Hanuman Bahuk is one of 3 compositions that Tulsidas has dedicated to Lord Hanumanji. In the Hanuman Bahuk Tulsidas has sung of the excruciating pain that he suffered at the close of his life and it includes his prayers to Hanumanji to eliminate this pain. The entire Hanuman Bahuk consists of Tulsidas praying to Hanumanji for the relief of his pain.
The composition is written in Avadhi but contains hints of Braj Bhasha too. There are a total of 44 Chhands in the Hanuman Bahuk. 2 are in the Chhapya meter, 1 in the Julnaa Meter, 5 in the Savaiya meter and 36 in the Ghanaakshari meter.
In the last 2 verses of the Bahuk, Tulsidas hails Hanumanji as the incarnation and form of Lord Shiv and refers to them as his guide.
